Conditions of Vehicle Inspection

Updated: 12/2025

At Autopraisal, the quality and accuracy of our work are paramount. We recognize that our services are non-tangible and ultimately result in a written valuation; therefore, precision and reliability are cornerstones of our process. Whenever possible, we make every reasonable effort to conduct an in-person (field) inspection of the vehicle as part of our valuation.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of conditions that must be met in order for a field inspection to take place:

  • The vehicle must be located in a safe environment. Vehicles situated in unsafe locations (such as roadside or traffic areas) must be relocated prior to inspection.
  • The vehicle must be fully accessible to our field inspectors and capable of being unlocked.
  • The vehicle must be available during normal business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time) and during sufficient daylight hours.

Disqualifiers for Field Inspections:

The following conditions will disqualify a vehicle from a field inspection:

  • Vehicles that present potential health or safety hazards, including but not limited to the presence of bodily fluids or materials, chemical spills or exposure, drugs, or similar dangers.
  • Vehicles located in unsafe environments that cannot be relocated.
  • Vehicles held by law enforcement (unless inspection is expressly permitted by the appropriate legal authority).
  • Unrecovered thefts.
  • Vehicles that have sustained total burn damage.

These lists are non-exhaustive. All field inspections and inspection locations are subject to the sole discretion of Autopraisal and its staff. If, at any point, our inspector determines that a field inspection cannot be safely or reasonably completed, the inspection will be discontinued immediately.

If a field inspection is not possible, our team will work directly with you to obtain the information necessary to complete our appraisal. This may include communicating with insurance companies, repair facilities, tow yards, attorneys, or other relevant parties to facilitate the valuation process.
