When a total loss has occurred don't leave money on the table.

Total losses happen more often than most people realize—over 25% of all car insurance claims end with the vehicle being deemed a total loss. After an inspection, or even after repairs have begun, the insurance company may decide your car isn’t economical to fix. They’ll then make a settlement offer based on the vehicle’s Actual Cash Value (ACV).

But here’s the part many people don’t expect: the ACV they offer often doesn’t match what you believe your car is truly worth—and that’s extremely common.

Determining an accurate ACV involves many variables, and not all of them work in your favor. Insurance companies have a financial incentive to control their payout, and that can directly impact the number they present to you.

To negotiate effectively, however, you need solid market data, not just basic online listings. Typical internet searches rarely provide the detailed, verifiable information required to justify a higher value.

That’s where an independent vehicle appraiser becomes essential. Autopraisal is an unbiased appraisal firm specializing in total-loss valuation support. We provide the documented evidence you need to challenge an undervalued settlement and secure the compensation your vehicle truly deserves.

We offer two simple options to help resolve you total loss quickly, fairly, and almost always for more money. Check out our options below and contact us when you're ready to get started.

Total Loss Valuation FAQs
Do you need to inspect my vehicle?

No, we're able to pull information and data on your vehicle from data sources to reflect options, title history, and more. During our intake process, we'll ask you to submit some recent photos of your vehicle. Additionally, if your vehicle is located at a body shop or collision center, we'll obtain your agreement for them to send us some photos. Our process renders a complete valuation report in very little time. This process helps to keep the cost low and offer flat fee pricing.

I have attorney for my injuries, will you replace my attorney?

No. Autopraisal is not a law firm. We do not offer legal advice or act as legal counsel at any capacity. We're happy to communicate with your attorney through the process. In some cases, when necessary if you're attorney represented we'll obtain documentation of authority from them to negotiate on your behalf for the value of your vehicle.

How is your fee paid?

Our fee is paid by you. Payment is required by credit card to start the process. In the event we determine we can't prove a value of at least 125% of the fee higher than the insurance companies offer, we'll refund 100% our fee immediately.

What happens if I pay for the Total Loss Express, but later want help negotiating?

This happens. You simply will pay the difference, complete a few additional steps giving us permission to negotiate, and we'll step in.

Will you invoke the appraisal clause with the insurance company?

As a part of the Concierge process we may need to invoke the appraisal clause, if necessary. Our goal is settle the total loss directly with the insurance company, however if they are unwilling to cooperate or negotiate we may look to invoke at that point. We'll discuss this with you prior as this may lead to additional 3rd party costs that you'll need to cover. We always reserve this right in writing with the insurance company at the beginning of our process.

How is your research different from NADA, KBB, and even cars.com?

These are all good online resources when competitively shopping for a car. Our research goes much further in-depth. We pull comps for sale and often previously sold, adjust values based on options you vehicle has versus the comparable, adjust for mileage, condition and more. This process is very similar to what many insurance companies do, but our research is unbiased which typically yields a more accurate value.

What types of vehicles can you provide a valuation for?

Autopraisal is able to provide valuation reporting on standard passenger autos and truck/vans, as well as others.
