When a total loss has occurred Autopraisal is here to help.

Total losses happen more often than most people realize. Over 25% of car insurance claims result in a vehicle being declared a total loss. When that happens, the insurer offers a settlement based on your car’s Actual Cash Value (ACV).

The problem? That number often comes in lower than what it really take to replace your vehicle, and that’s extremely common. ACV calculations involve many variables, and insurers may have  a financial incentive to keep payouts as low as possible. What most people don’t know is that total-loss settlements are negotiable, even if you’re told otherwise.

The key to negotiating successfully is solid, defensible market data, not just basic online listings. That’s where an independent appraiser comes in. Autopraisal provides unbiased valuations and the documentation needed to challenge low offers and secure the compensation you deserve.

Our Total Loss Appraisals will provide a comprehensive report that can be used to challenge a low insurance settlement offer.

Total Loss Valuation FAQs

No, we're able to pull information and data on your vehicle from data sources to reflect options, title history, and more. During our intake process, we'll ask you to submit some recent photos of your vehicle. Additionally, if your vehicle is located at a body shop or collision center, we'll obtain your agreement for them to send us some photos. Our process renders a complete valuation report in very little time. This process helps to keep the cost low and offer flat fee pricing.

No. Autopraisal is not a law firm. We do not offer legal advice or act as legal counsel at any capacity. We're happy to communicate with your attorney through the process. In some cases, when necessary if you're attorney represented we'll obtain documentation of authority from them to negotiate on your behalf for the value of your vehicle.

Our fee is paid by you. Payment is required by credit card to start the process. In the event we determine we can't prove a value of at least 125% of the fee higher than the insurance companies offer, we'll refund 100% our fee immediately.

If you're working to settle your total loss claim with YOUR insurance company then you may need to invoke the appraisal clause. In some cases, your insurance company may agree to increase the value of your settlement to avoid the additional costs and delays that may be incurred by invoking the appraisal clause. Every insurance company and claim is unique and different.

These are all good online resources when competitively shopping for a car. Our research goes much further in-depth. We pull comps for sale and often previously sold, adjust values based on options you vehicle has versus the comparable, adjust for mileage, condition and more. This process is very similar to what many insurance companies do, but our research is unbiased which typically yields a more accurate value.

Autopraisal is able to provide valuation reporting on standard passenger autos and truck/vans, as well as others.
